FREE Center announces first round of funding for Spring 2024 Research and Connection Clusters

The Ohio State Center for Feminist Research, Education and Engagement (FREE Center) is pleased to announce that it has awarded funding to 11 Research and Connection Clusters for the spring 2024 semester.  

FREE Center Research and Connection Clusters bring together scholars across campus around shared areas of interest related to feminist research, education, and engagement, broadly defined. Grants of $500 to $1,000 were awarded to clusters to help fund a variety of activities, such as books and supplies, catered meetings, workshops, and cultural and community events. 

The spring 2024 clusters, listed below, span a wide range of fields and include faculty, graduate students, and community partners.

A second round of funding for Spring 2024 Research and Connection Clusters is now open. Second-round funding requests can be submitted via the Qualtrics form. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 16. The FREE Center will announce second-round funding recipients on Feb. 19. 

The FREE Center is a new hub for community-engaged feminist research and teaching that brings together individuals from across the university and the Columbus community. Supported by a five-year, $500,000 grant from the Office of Academic Affairs, the center aims to inspire, generate, and support collaborative research and community engagement projects rooted in feminist approaches and perspectives. 

The center is housed in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and is led by a faculty advisory board including Dr. Mary Thomas, Dr. Alison Norris, Dr. Lori Patton Davis, and Dr. Mytheli Sreenivas.
