WGSST 3320 - Special Topics Seminar (OPEEP Offering)
Instructor: Dr. Octavian Robinson
Language is more than a set of rules or utterances; an embodied expression of lived experience. How we language, the active bodily process of making meaning, shapes how we are perceived. This course interrogates the ways some bodyminds are marked as "disordered" or "deficient" to reify structures of power like race, disability, and gender. A central theme is the relationship between “disordered languaging” and the carceral system.
