The FREE Center supports the work of scholars like Dr. Shameka Poetry Thomas, who leads the Maternal Health and Sickle Cell Disease for Women and Girls with Genetic Conditions Cluster. This cluster builds off the Sickle Women and Girls (SWAG) Project, an NIH-funded research initiative with collaborators between the United States and Ghana.
Feminist Teaching
The FREE Center is reimagining feminist teaching. As part of these efforts, the FREE Center recently hosted a feminist pedagogy workshop for Ohio State faculty and graduate students. Led by Dr. Mary Thomas and Dr. Tiyi Morris, the event supported educators as they imagine and implement new approaches to teaching.
Feminist Community
The FREE Center holds important community conversations, like the spring panel on feminist politics and the 2024 elections. Expert panelists discussed a variety of political issues impacting Ohio and beyond, from reproductive justice to gerrymandering to challenges facing women candidates.
