Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Community Engagement

Community engagement is central to women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, a field that grew out of movements for social change.

The FREE Center continues this legacy through research, events, and programs that contribute to civil discourse, co-create knowledge, and build shared values on campus, in Columbus, and across the state of Ohio.

Research and Connection Clusters serve as the foundation of the FREE Center's work. These clusters involve a variety of community partners, from nonprofit organizations to artists to local government.

The FREE Center also hosts events and programs throughout the year that are open to the public and engage with the work of community partners.
