WGSS Alum Lidia Garcia Receives 2021 Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award

WGSS and John Glenn Senior Lidia Garcia Berrelleza

Lidia Garcia, recent OSU graduate with degrees in WGSS and Public Affairs, was recently awarded a Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award!

The award is annually given to five individuals at Ohio State to recognize their commitment in enhancing the university’s diversity and inclusion efforts. Lidia was recognized for her leadership, passion, and support for DACA and undocumented students. During her time at the university, she played an important role in founding the Student Community of Progressive Empowerment (S.C.O.P.E), the first student organization dedicated to supporting and providing allyship for DACA and undocumented students.

After graduating this past spring, Lidia will be serving as a fellow for the Cleveland Foundation, working in public service before pursuing graduate school. Congratulations to Lidia on these awesome achievements!
