WGSS Professor Jill Bystydzienski has recently received the Harlan Hatcher Arts and Sciences Distinguished Faculty Award!

The Harlan Hatcher Award, first established in 2002 with gifts from the family of the late alumnus and former Arts and Sciences dean Dr. Harlan Hatcher, is given yearly to recognize a professor in the college with an exceptional record in teaching, research, and service. Nominated by the chair of their department, faculty recipients receive a one-time award of $3,000 to support their academic work.

Throughout the academic year, Dr. Bystydzienski teaches classes such as Issues in Contemporary Theory and Feminist Perspectives on Globalization. Her research examines barriers to advancement of girls and women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as women’s movements and feminisms in post-Soviet countries. She is currently the chair of the department’s Promotion and Tenure Committee, and will be accepting the award from the college in April.

Congratulations to Dr. Bystydzienski on this accomplishment, and thank you for your hard work!
