FREE Center Fall Kick Off Event: Using the Freedom Dreaming Pedagogy Tool

In late August, the FREE Center hosted its fall kickoff event, "Imagine New Worlds: Using the Freedom Dreaming Pedagogy Tool".
The event began with a reception, which offered attendees the opportunity to learn more about the work being done by the Research and Connection Clusters, and graduate students who received FREE Center funding during the spring 2024 semester.
Following the reception, attendees participated in a special pedagogy workshop, facilitated by OPEEP Faculty Directors, Dr. Mary Thomas and Dr. Tiyi Morris, which explored the theme of Freedom Dreaming.
The Global Arts + Humanities Theme and the Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project (OPEEP) developed a Freedom Dreaming pedagogy tool last academic year. The tool prompts participants to consider harms, their impacts, and strategies for creating pathways to new worlds.
Attendees brainstormed the tool’s uses and creative potential for classroom discussion, collaboration, and research. "Imagine New Worlds" left attendees feeling energized for feminist teaching and praxis in the new semester.
