Svitlana Babenko is an associate professor of Sociology at the National University of Kyiv and the head of the university's MA Program "Gender Studies". Interested in post-communist transformation in Eastern Europe, dynamics of social inequalities, social quality of society, and gender studies, Professor Babenko published multiple works in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, such as "Prospects of Teaching and Studying Sociology: Student-Centered Education" (2014) and "Path to Gender Equality in Education: Experience of Gender Audit at Faculty of Sociology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv" (2016). She has received several awards for her work, including the 2017 "Best Teacher of the Year" award at her university.

Professor Babenko will be visiting campus to discuss current developments in Ukraine, such as inequalities, internally displaced people from Crimea and Donbass, public opinion on relations with Russia and the EU, gender inequalities, and gender differences in life-course success. Please join us in welcoming her to campus!
