Camilla Santos is a Ph.D. student in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at The Ohio State University. Her research examines the intersections of Christian Conservative Movements and abortion policies in Brazil, with a focus on the socio-political dynamics shaping reproductive justice and the mental health impacts of restrictive policies on women. This work builds on her extensive background in public health and advocacy for women’s rights, developed during her residency at Hospital das Clínicas in Brazil, where she provided psychological support to women in high-risk health settings, including survivors of violence and those undergoing legal abortions procedures.
