Susan Stryker, professor in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Arizona, visited campus for her moderated discussion, “The State of Transgender Studies.” Professor Stryker is best known for her work in LGBT studies and history, founding and co-editing the journal of TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, authoring Transgender History: The Roots of Today's Revolution, and co-editing the Emmy-winning documentary film, “Screaming Queens: The Riot of Compton's Cafeteria.”
The annual spring celebration went virtual this year! Despite not being able to gather on campus, WGSS was able to send off undergraduate and graduate students who graduated this year using Zoom. Faculty honored students who received awards, and the call ended with a viewing of a congratulatory video put together by faculty and staff.
The Global Arts and Humanities Society of Fellows is hosting a Cross-Disciplinary Digital Dialogues series this year. The dialogues bring together artists, scholars and activists working in a range of disciplines to discuss topics such as art activism, environmental justice, incarceration, disability, colonialism and more. A number of our faculty have participated in these discussions, and there are still more discussions planned for the spring. View the list of public dialogues and register today.
