The FREE Center (Ohio State’s Center for Feminist Research, Education and Engagement) invites you to our inaugural event, a panel discussion of this year’s election and the transformative potentials of a reinvigorated feminist commitment to political action and candidates.
This conversation is vital in the contemporary context of increased threats to reproductive freedom, trans healthcare and LGBTQA+ rights, libraries and anti-censorship movements, and more.
Join our panel of four experts for a lively conversation moderated by Senior Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence and Professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at OSU, Dr. Wendy Smooth.
Panelists include:
- Maria Bruno, Public Policy Director at LGBTQA+ advocacy organization Equity Ohio, where she leads legislative strategy and engagement for public policy
- Jessie Hill, Professor of Law at Case Western Reserve University, with expertise in constitutional law and civil rights, currently litigating numerous challenges to abortion restrictions in Ohio
- Barbara Palmer, Professor of Political Science at Baldwin Wallace University and an expert on women running for public office and the challenges and opportunities women face as candidates
- Emily Quick Schriver '05, leader of The Matriots, which has a mission to elect more Ohio women to public office
