Boo! The Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) department invites YOU to our Halloween-themed event "What’s So Scary About Gender Studies" on Monday, November 2nd, 3:30- 5 p.m. (doors open at 3 p.m.) at the Thompson Library Multipurpose space (room 165). The event is geared towards building community, introducing undergraduate students to our interdisciplinary WGSS faculty, sharing our hair-raising upcoming classes for the Spring semester, and emphasizing the spooktacular value of the WGSS major and minor in our current moment by hearing the spine-chilling successes achieved by our alumni panelists.
As you may have noticed, gender studies has been cast as the villain in today’s political theater—misrepresented, attacked, and even treated as a threat to society itself. But maybe what's so "scary" about gender studies isn't the critiques; it's the power of the field to expose oppression, envision more just futures, and imagine different worlds. Join a panel of alumni, faculty and students in the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies for a timely conversation on the stakes of gender studies today, the challenges it faces and the transformative possibilities it opens up.
Open to all students, staff, faculty, and community members. Costumes welcome (optional), and FREE food, candy, and refreshments provided for our spooky-season theme!
When: Monday, November 2nd from 3:30-5:00 PM
