Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

WGSS Fall Open House

OPEN HOUSE
October 22, 2015
11:00 am - 1:00 pm
286 University Hall

The Open House is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to occupy the 286 University Hall office space to connect with one another as the WGSS community and share their feminist stories. We will have various student and activist groups represented so that students may learn about new ways to get involved with issues they care about while also exposing prospective students to WGSS.

In addition, this year we are coordinating a holiday drive to help out the newly renovated Star House facility for homeless youth in Columbus. For those who are able and would like to contribute, please bring in a small contribution for this cause. The Star House currently lists medications (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, decongestant, cough drops), underwear, toothbrushes, socks and deodorant as their highest priority items.

The Star House serves as a “one-stop shop” where homeless youth can access resources to meet their basic needs and become connected to the Columbus community of resources. At Star House, youth can receive items to meet their basic needs such as food, clothing, hygiene items and backpacks. Along with meeting everyday needs, Star House offers walk-in appointments with two full-time therapists who individualize their treatment to meet youths’ needs, through individual, couple or group therapy. These therapists are trained to connect youth with resources in the community and be an advocate to help accomplish treatment goals. Our therapists and other staff also connect with community partners to offer a full continuum of support such as medical and dental providers, health and sexual wellness experts, employment services, recovery support groups and more. The Star House seeks to provide culturally competent services to all youth who stay there.

Help us make a difference in their holiday season!
