The 6th TransOhio Trans and Ally Symposium will be held the weekend of May 30, 31 and June 1, 2014 at the Ohio State University Ohio Union in collaboration with the Ohio State University Student Life Multicultural Center. The 2014 Symposium keynote speaker is Kye Allums.
"I Am Enough!" This has been Kye Allum's mantra for quite some time. Kye being ENOUGH, was the very catalyst for him to started sharing his story with athletic departments and Universities across the US, the story of being the first Division I, openly transgender athlete in sports history. He went on to graduate from The George Washington University with a degree in Fine Arts but his desire for change did not stop there. It was then that his mantra became his movement. Project I Am Enough was born and lives have been effected every since.
As Founder & Creative Director of his now thriving organization, Kye has dedicated his life to reaffirming, empowering and inspiring people in their power and purpose. The suicide rate continues to be very high among LGBT youth and knowing this is a constant reminder for Kye to continue his work diligently.
"We must learn to love ourselves before we can hope for change anywhere else", says Kye. He goes on to say, "I am passionate about our youth and transgender rights. I will not stop pursuing equality until equality has been won!" Although Kye speaks at many LGBT events and Universities around the country educating and allowing individuals to learn from his "coming out" mistakes, his message of being enough is for everyone.
Kye has been featured in the following: Out 100 in Out Magazine, Advocate 40 under 40, LGBT History Month Icon of the Day, Sports Illustrated: The Transgender Athlete. Follow this link for more infmation about Kye.
