Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall is an Anna Julia Cooper Professor of Women's Studies and the founding director of Women's Research and Resource Center at Spelman College in Atlanta. She has published multiple texts in the fields of African American and Women's Studies, including the first anthology on black women's literature, Sturdy Black Bridges: Visions of Black Women in Literature and Gender Talk: The Struggle for Equality in African American Communities.

During her stay on campus, Dr. Guy-Sheftall will be visiting for an open discussion about the program of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies as a whole.
