OSU's Center for Latin American Studies will be hosting this year's Ohio Latin Americanist Conference (OLAC)! The title of the 2017 OLAC is "Hemispheric Connections, Transdisciplinary Perspectives." All Latin Americanist and Latinx Studies scholars, educators, and students from institutions of higher education in Ohio and surrounding states are welcome to attend and participate.

The conference is also calling for research proposals for those who wish to present at the conference. Areas of research may include subjects such as women's studies, gender studies, ethnic studies, sexuality studies, education, film and cinema studies, geography, history, and more. OLAC would especially like those with proposals related to this year's theme, as well as fields that have been underrepresented at past OLAC conferences, such as the natural sciences, environmental science, bioethics, among others, to submit. The deadline for submitting an abstract is September 10th, 2017.

For more information, to submit a research proposal, or to register (due no later than October 10th), please visit the conference website.

This event is co-sponsored by Ohio University, Case Western Reserve University, and the following OSU departments: Ethnomusicology- School of Music, Center for Folklore Studies, Department of Linguistics, Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Department of History.
