Chi-Raq Screening and Talkback with Keving Wilmott

Join us for a screening and talkback of Spike Lee's Chi-Raq (2015), featuring the film's co-writer and co-exective producer Kevin Wilmott. Chi-Raq uses Artistrophanes' Lysistrata to tell the story of a movement of frustrated women to withold sex from their men until they end the cycles of gang-related violence. The talkback will be moderated by Dr. Treva lindsey from the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Mr. Wilmott will discuss the creative reasoning for combining the worlds of Chicago's South Side and Lysistrata's Peloponnesian War and open the door for the importance of media representation to higlight social issues.
