Presented by the Criminal Justice Research Center: Professor Adam Jones, Political Science University of British ColumbiaExecutive Director, Gendercide WatchAuthor of The Scourge of Genocide: Essays and Reflections The study of gender and genocide has become an increasingly prominent theme in the interdisciplinary field of comparative genocide studies. This talk adopts an inclusive approach to gender, considering the role of women and men as targets and perpetrators of genocide and crimes against humanity. It will also explore the themes of "gendercidal institutions," sexual violence as a genocidal strategy, and the use of gendered motifs in genocidal propaganda. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
