Add to Calendar 2018-03-22 12:00:00 2018-03-22 13:30:00 Brittney Cooper Graduate Seminar and Public Lecture Dr. Brittney Cooper is an associate professor of Women's and Gender Studies and Africana Studies at Rutgers University, specializing in the areas of Black feminism, womanhood, and representation of Black women in popular culture. Dr. Cooper has published several works, including her recent book, Beyond Respectability: The Intellectual Thought of Race Women (2017), as well as a number of articles for Cosmopolitan and Salon. She is the co-founder of the blog Crunk Feminist Collective, which articulates feminist consciousness for women and men of color through posts and discussions of current issues.Dr. Cooper will be visiting campus to discuss her most recent book, as well as her upcoming book, Eloquent Rage: A Black Feminist Discovers Her Superpower (February 2018). The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 22nd at 6-7:30pm in 100 Stillman Hall. The talk is free and open to the public. Dr. Cooper will also be hosting a graduate seminar on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 from 12-1:30pm, Alonso Family Room.
