Her research areas involve globalization, revolutions and social movements, transnational feminist networks, and gender, development, and democratization in the Middle East and North Africa. She has published multiple works, including her books Modernizing Women: Gender and Social Change in the Middle East (revised 3rd ed., 2013), Globalization and Social Movements: Islamism, Feminism, and the Global Justice Movement (2nd ed., 2009), and Globalizing Women: Transnational Feminism and the Global Justice Movement (2013). Dr. Moghadam's current research explores prospects for women-friendly democratization after the Arab Spring.Dr. Moghadam will be visiting to give her lecture titled "Is the Future of Revolution Feminist?" She will discuss the implications of feminism's global diffusion for the 21st century political revolutions, democratic social movements, and right-wing populist movements, including prospects for a feminist-infused "world revolution of 20xx."Please join us in welcoming her to campus!This event will be hosted by The Center for Historical Research.
