He is the author of the book Stain Removal: Ethics and Race (Oxford University Press, 2016). Engaging a wide range of theorists and writings from the Biblical story of Ham, to Socrates, Immanuel Kant, Alain Locke, Onora O'Neill, Frantz Fanon, Langston Hughes, and Louis Althusser, Stain Removal crosses disciplinary boundaries to advance a compelling theory of the evaluative nature of all representation. It employs the framework of race to reconsider key premises about how subjects are ethically interpreted. Miller has also published in Critical Inquiry and Philosophy and Social Criticism.
