Columbus Community Pride 2018: Back to Our Roots

Add to Calendar 2018-06-16 11:00:00 2018-06-16 19:00:00 Columbus Community Pride 2018: Back to Our Roots At Stonewall Columbus’ 2017 Pride parade, several community members stepped out into the street with the intent of bringing public attention to the lack of safe spaces for Black and brown LGBTQIA+ folks within the larger LGBTQIA+ community. Within one minute of leaving the curb, the group was accosted by aggressive CPD officers, who assaulted them with bikes, pepper spray, and sheer force. During this altercation, four folks––all Black trans and queer individuals––were arrested. They have become known as the #BlackPride4.Join Black Queer & Intersectional Columbus for a day-long festival centering QTIPOC and those at the intersections of oppression. This pride is taking no corporate sponsorship, and police are not invited.The Columbus Community Pride Festival will feature performances and visual art by queer and trans artists of color, a community resource fair, outdoor activities for children (and the young at heart), POC-owned food trucks, and much more! Join us for a day of celebration, creativity, and joy--and help grow the promise of liberation for QTIPOC in Central Ohio and beyond!!There will be a number of events leading up to the festival on Saturday, June 16th.
